Pippa, an Alocasia Polly, Alocasia Amazonia, or Elephant’s Ear, is one of the most striking houseplants out there! She has dark green leaves with silver-white veins that almost look like a bolt of lightening, and each leaf can grow to more than 30cm in length!
As her name suggests Pippa is native to the rainforests of South America, which means she’s more partial to swamp like conditions – make sure you don’t let her dry out or she might not forgive you!
Pippa, Alocasia Polly
Pippa prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
