Zina, an Alocasia Zebrina, Tiger Plant, or Elephants Ear, is one of our absolute favourites! Distinctive zebra-like stems and shiny arrow-shaped leaves mean that she shows off wherever she’s sat!
Native to Southeast Asia, Zina is a member of the wider ‘Aroid’ family, which holds some of the more exotic houseplants you may have seen. Interestingly, each Alocasia Zebrina often generates its own unique patterns and colouring otherwise known as variegation.
Zina, Alocasia Zebrina
Zina prefers bright indirect light to partial shade without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
