Blake, an Alocasia Zebrina Black Stem, is a rare and highly sought-after variety of Alocasia that instead of the well-known zebra markings sports all-black stems.
Native to Southeast Asia, Blake is a member of the wider ‘Aroid’ family, which holds some of the more exotic houseplants you may have seen.
Interestingly, each Alocasia Zebrina often generates its own unique patterns and colouring otherwise known as variegation.

Blake prefers bright indirect light to partial shade without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
