Alula, a Hawaiian Palm, Brighamia Insignis, Vulcan Palm, or cabbage on a stick, is an endangered species native to the islands of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.
Alula is extremely rare. In 1994 the United States Fish and Wildlife Service reported five populations totaling no more than 65 individuals and listed the plant as endangered. As of today, the species is possibly extinct in the wild. The last single individual was recorded in the wild in 2014.
According to the U.S. Botanic Garden, Alula's only pollinator was a type of now-extinct hawk moth, which has made it all but impossible for Alula to reproduce naturally. Therefore, individuals only produce seeds when pollinated by humans.

Alula prefers bright indirect light during winter, then in summer he can cope with less - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
