Clarence, an Anthurium Clarinervium, is nothing short of amazing. If you ask us, he looks more like an alien than a plant, what with his dark green leaves and bright green-white veins popping out!
Native to South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, Clarence is one of 1,000 members of the Anthurium family, most of which are epiphytes, which means they’re usually found growing in crevices within larger plants!
If you’re lucky, and Clarence is a happy chap, you may even get to see him flower – saying that, his flowers are more alien like as well, looking more like a pink-white spike on the end of a stick than a flower!

Clarence prefers indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
