Ira, a baby Alocasia Ivory Coast has bright green leaves with a silvery hue and contrasting silver veining that almost appears like a miniature mosaic. Once he's more established, his stems turn pink creating a stunning centrepiece.
Native to the rainforests of South America, Ira is used to humid, almost swamp-like conditions, so make sure you don’t let him dry out too much or he might not forgive you!
Ira, Baby Alocasia Ivory Coast
Ira prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
