Luke, a baby Alocasia Longiloba Grandis or Alocasia Veitchii, is famed for his huge heart or arrow shaped leaves with a blue-green colour and silver veins. Believe it or not, Luke will eventually form a tree-like stem, which gives him a more solid foundation for his larger than life leaves.
Native to the rainforests of South America, Luke is used to humid, almost swamp-like conditions, so make sure you don’t let him dry out too much or he might not forgive you.
Luke, Baby Alocasia Longiloba Grandis
Luke prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
