Viserion, a baby Alocasia Silver Dragon Scale is a hybrid of the more well-known Mushu, our Alocasa Dragon Scale, or Alocasia Baginda - basically, they're cousins to one another.
Just like Mushu, Viserion has one of the most amazing leaf textures you'll find, so it's no surprise that he's also one of the hardest to come by varieties of Alocasia. The special thing about Viserion is his colour. Instead of a deep green colour, his leaves appear to have a silver dusting.
Viserion has an incredible, deep-veined texture that, in case you haven't already guessed, is said to resemble dragon scales. What's even better, is that the leaves are tough and pliable, and even have a hardened topside, just like real scales!
Native to the tropical forests of Borneo, Viserion is one of the beautiful “jewel” Alocasias, a group of special rainforest specimens that demand that little bit extra TLC.
Viserion, Baby Alocasia Silver Dragon
Viserion prefers bright indirect light to partial shade without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
