Donatello, a Baby String of Turtles, or Peperomia Prostrata, is a miniature member of the Peperomia family with variegated leaves resembling the shell of a turtle!
Native to South America, Donatello is happy either trailing down the side of a pot or creeping along surfaces, eventually creating a mat-like structure. He won't grow too big, so he's great for a desk, but make sure you're careful because he's delicate!
Donatello, Baby String of Turtles
Donatello prefers bright indirect light, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
