Sebastian, a Cereus Forbesii Spiralis, Cereus Peruvianous Tortulosus, Twisted Cereus, or Contorted Cereus, is well known for his shape, but believe it or not, he starts out life with straight ribs - in fact, it's not until Sebastian reaches around 10cm tall that he begins to twist!
Native to South Africa, his blue-green colour and tower-like form are almost alien-like, and if you're lucky enough to see him flower, they'll be pink or white with long delicate petals.
Sebastian, Cereus Forbesii Spiralis Cactus
Sebastian prefers bright light and once established will even tolerate direct sun.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
