Puff, a Dragon Tree 'Sunray' or Dracaena, is actually part of the same family as the Yucca. His long, thin, arching leaves display a trio of colours, green, cream, and red.
Not only is Puff hardy, but he's also a great air purifier - in fact, Dracaena is one of the plants on NASA's air filtering plants list that remove toxins from the air.
Native to Spain's Canary Islands; Cape Verde; Morocco; and Madeira, Portugal, Puff is known for being tall, adding height and impact without taking too much space. His stems can develop interesting curved, contorted, architectural shapes, as they mature, adding more tropical beauty.
Puff, Dragon Tree Marginata Tricolour
Puff prefers indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
