Ella, an English Ivy or Hedera Helix Variegated, is an absolute classic native to England, which means you can find her almost every street in the country. As you might imagine, she prefers cooler temperatures, a shady spot, and an occasional shower to keep her happy.
Ella’s happy hanging up high or trailing from a shelf but be careful, she’ll get big! Ella also has a secret weapon, she’s one of the most effective plants at removing benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene from the air around us – amazing right?!
Ella, Variegated English Ivy
Ella prefers a shady spot, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
