Gerald, a Golden Pothos, Epipremnum Aureum, or Devil’s Ivy, is without a doubt one of the most popular houseplants in the world.

Now, plants don’t get as popular as Gerald for anything - number one; he’s extremely versatile, looking great in a hanging pot, trailing down from a shelf, and can even be trained up walls, and number 2; Gerald is super easy to care for. What’s not to like?!

Gerald’s natural habitat is the forests of South-East Asia where he can be found climbing up tree trunks in lots of shade. Funnily enough, this is where he gets his name from – devils like the dark after all!

  • Gerald prefers indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
