Sharon, an Ivy Shamrock or Clover-Leaf Ivy, is a familiar plant that is often found growing outdoors in the UK. Sharon is a cousin of Elsie, our English Ivy. The main difference between the two is that Sharon is darker in colour and her leaves are 3-lobed, hence her name.
As you might imagine, she prefers cooler temperatures, a shady spot, and an occasional shower to keep her happy. Sharon's happy hanging up high or trailing from a shelf but be careful, she’ll get big!
Sharon also has a secret weapon, she’s one of the most effective plants at removing benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene, and toluene from the air around us – amazing right?!
Sharon, Ivy Shamrock
Sharon prefers a shady spot, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
