Kenny, a Kentia Palm or Howea Forsteriana, is one of the most quintessential Victorian houseplants you’ll come across! Kenny originated on Lord Howe Island, a tiny island near Australia. The island gives the palm its botanical name, Howea Forsteriana. Kenny is a slow grower; in fact, he could take decades to reach his maximum height of 10 metres.
Kenny made his way to the UK in the 1870s, where his exotic look and feel made for the perfect status symbol, and since then a popular houseplant. Interestingly Kentia Palms could also be found on The Titanic - not only that, Queen Victoria herself was a fan, so much so that she wanted palms placed around her coffin when she died.

Kenny prefers bright indirect light without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss. Kenny doesn’t mind a touch of shade, but he’ll do best near a window.

- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
