Maverick, an Alocasia Melo or Alocasia Rugosa, is a particularly exotic and rare variety of Jewel Alocasia, who’s leaves are deep-green, large, and thick, with a rough texture that makes it look like an artificial plant. In fact, it's his rugged appearance that inspired the Rugosa part of his name. Native to the South East Asian forests of Indonesia, Maverick tends to grow in rocky terrain under thick forest canopies, which means he actually prefers a touch of shade rather than bright light.

Maverick prefers bright indirect light to partial shade without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
