Octavius, a Monstera Obliqua, is a close relative of Monty, our Monstera Monkey Mask or Monstera Adansonii. The main difference between the two is that Octavius has slightly elongated leaves and typically has more holes.
Just like Monty, Octavius is a fast grower and as he gets older you can either let him trail downwards or train him to climb upwards, which is what he would do naturally in the wild.
Octavius, Monstera Obliqua
Octavius prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
