Orion, a Variegated Monstera Thai Constellation, is basically a celebrity. Known the world over, but you're lucky to meet one.

Believe it or not, Orion is the result of some very careful cultivation. His leaves are covered in a pattern reminiscent of a night sky filled with stars, with splatters of white across dark green leaves.

The reason he almost never appears in the wild is that he naturally wants to be all green. The white variegation makes him more delicate and susceptible to damage.

As you probably know, the green parts of leaves contain chlorophyll, which allows plants to absorb light for energy. Now, the white parts contain no chlorophyll, so as you can imagine, variegated plants find it a lot harder to survive. If you have the right conditions for the Orion, you're in for a show.

Interestingly, some varieties of variegated plants are developed in labs! Who knew?!

  • Orion prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
