Monty, a Monstera Monkey Mask or Monstera Adansonii, is a close relative of Wallace, the better known Monstera Deliciosa or Swiss Cheese Plant. As you might have guessed they’re named so because of their (slight) resemblance to face of a mischievous monkey!
Monty is a fast grower and as he gets older he’ll need some support, such as a bamboo stick or coir pole, to reach his full potential.
Monty, Monstera Monkey Mask
Monty prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
