Poppy, a Persian Shield Plant or Strobilanthes Dyerianus, has leaves mimicking the appearance of shields ready for battle, with a bright purple iridescence and a silvery metallic sheen.

Interestingly, despite being known as the Persian Shield Plant, Poppy isn't native to Persia - instead, she's native to Myanmar, formerly Burma.

  • Poppy prefers bright indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
