Pete, a Codiaeum Petra, Croton Petra, or Variegatum Pictum Petra, is a spectacular plant with decorative foliage adorned with amazing colours and variegation.
His leaves are typically glossy to touch and oval in shape with pointed tips, so he kind of looks like a bonfire! His colours range from dark and light greens to yellows, oranges, reds, and even pinks – then on top of that, his veins are a pale green which adds another dimension altogether!
Pete, Codiaeum Petra
Pete prefers bright light and a few hours of direct sunlight per day is recommended – that being said, avoid mid-day sun as this could cause the leaves to fade.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
