Pip, a Philodendron Pink Princess, Philodendron Erubescens, or Blushing Philodendron, is widely sought after rarity. She's famous for her stunning heart-shaped deep green leaves adorned with splashes of bright pink variegation*.
Despite her name, each new leaf Pip produces actually emerges as a dark olive-green with almost white variegation, rather than pink. It's only when the leaves mature that you'll be rewarded with pink.
Native to Columbia, Pip is a climbing variety of Philodendron, which means she'll eventually need a stake, coir pole, or moss pole for support.
*Please be aware, variegation levels will vary and there is no guarantee that your plant will have white or pink markings on arrival.
Pip, Philodendron Pink Princess
Pip prefers indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
