Hector, a Snake Plant, Sansevieria Trifasciata Hahnii, or Birds Nest Snake Plant, has dark, glossy leaves, arranged in a funnel shape forming a rosette of stunning foliage with grey-green variegation.

Just like his cousins, he's as tough as they come and will survive almost anything you throw at him. He grows primarily across Africa, which means he's used to both hot and dry conditions.

To deal with the hottest temperatures during the day he actually closes his pores stopping any water loss by evaporation. Then, at night when the temperature drops, all of his pores open up releasing all the oxygen he's been holding onto - that's why he's such a great air purifyer.

  • Hector can cope with any light conditions you throw at her, ranging from bright sunlight all the way down to shady corners.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
