Shamu, a Sansevieria Masoniana Victoria or Sansevieria Whale Fin, is probably one of the strangest and most eye-catching plants around, simply because of how minimal he is!

Native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo Shamu is part of the wider Asparagaceae family - with a single blade, Shamu is one of the most recognizable in the family. In the wild, he can grow up to 4m in height, eventually forming a stalk with clusters of white flowers.

  • Shamu can cope with any light conditions you throw at him, ranging from bright sunlight all the way down to shady corners.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
