Breanna, a String of Bananas Purple Flush or Senecio Herreianus Purple Flush, is relatively new to the UK, which means she's not widely available. Unlike her cousin, Percival, our String of Pearls, Breanna has bright purple vines with green fronds, giving her a bit of pazaz.
Native to South Africa, if Breanna is happy she can grow so long that he reaches the ground beneath her, at which point he starts spreading far and wide! Apparently, when Breanna flowers, she smells like cinnamon!
Breanna, String of Bananas Purple Flush
Breanna prefers bright indirect light, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
