Britton, a String of Beads, or Senecio Herreianus, is a succulent, with you guessed it, trailing stems of tear-like foliage. Each leaf has a semi-translucent line across its belly helping produce energy.
You've probably heard of Britton's close relatives, Percival, aka the String of Pearls. They're almost identical, apart from the shape of their foliage.
Native to South Africa, if Britton is happy she can grow so long that he reaches the ground beneath her, at which point he starts spreading far and wide!
Britton, String of Beads
Britton prefers bright indirect light, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
