Dory, a String of Dolphins, Dolphin Necklace, or Flying Dolphins, needs no explanation. As you might have guessed, her leaves resemble dolphins jumping out of the water, talk about cool!
Believe it or not, Dory is actually a hybrid of the String of Pearls, or Percival as we call him, and the candle plant, or Senecio Articulatus.
Native to South Africa, Dory is actually a succulent, which means she's pretty easy to care for. In fact, if you water her too much, you'll end up causing more damage than good. Less is more! Trust us, she'll thank you for it.
Dory, String of Dolphins
Dory prefers bright indirect light, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
