Heather, a Tradescantia Purple Heart or Tradescantia Pallida, is a harder to come by member of the family, which is probably because she's so popular! Heather has deep royal purple leaves with a bright violet underbelly - what's not to like?!
Native to Mexico, the Tradescantia family are hugely popular the world over because they're easy to care for. Occasionally, they'll flower, revealing tiny white three-petalled flowers.
Heather, Tradescantia Purple Heart
Heather prefers bright indirect light without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight however would be welcomed.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
