Zion, a Zamioculcas Zamiifolia Zamicro, ZZ Zamicro, or Miniature ZZ Plant is native to Central Africa, which means they’re well versed in dealing with extreme weather conditions ranging from prolonged drought to heavy downpours.

Zion is actually a miniature version of the standard ZZ Plant, known as Zam here at Loft Leaf - but, it's not just Zion and Zam, they've got quite a few other cousins; Zendaya, Ray, and Neil, who are all part of the wider aroid 'palm' family.

Believe it or not, they have ball-shaped masses under the soil called rhizomes that can store water – kind of like a camel hump! The ways it’s adapted to those conditions are the reason it’s such an excellent, easy-going houseplant.

Due to Zion's characteristics, his roots grow in such a way that they can cause disfigurement to the nursery pot. This is caused by Zion's rhizomes, in English meaning ball-shaped growths that hold water. This is completely normal, and Zion thrives when his roots are tightly packed. An example of Zion's pot can be found in the images above, this is for illustrative purposes only, and pots will differ from plant to plant.
