Zelda, an Aeschynanthus Marmoratus or Zebra Basket Vine, has dark green oval-shaped leaves with a contrasting burgundy striped underbelly, which actually gets bolder the more light she is exposed to.

Native to Asia, if Zelda is happy, she'll even produce bright orange-red flowers - if you want her to flower, make sure she's getting enough light.

Believe it or not, there are more than 150 different members of the Aeschynanthus family, most of which are epiphytes, meaning they grow in cracks and crevices on trees and rocks, rather than on the ground.

  • Zelda prefers medium to bright light.

If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:

    • Minimal shadow = lower light
    • Half shadow = indirect light
    • Full shadow = direct sun
