PRODUCT PROJECT
Sun Shade Playground Equipment
This project focused on providing a means of protection for primary school children on their break and lunch times. The project resulted in sun shade equipment, which would be situated across the playground space.
The product consisted of a set of 3 rotationally moulded shelters, which enable children to play around and inside the product. The product is situated on top of castors, which enable them to be moved around the playground. The shelters are stabilised with the use of sand.
SYSTEMS PROJECT
Modular Classroom Furniture
The Foundation Phase is the statutory curriculum for all 3 to 7 year olds across Wales. It places great emphasis on children learning by doing. There are 7 different areas to the Foundation Phase and this enables the teacher to introduce different learning areas in to the classroom space.
The different learning areas can be implemented all in one go and the children could be in groups, completing different learning activities such as reading & writing, construction based games and physical activities all at the same time. This enabled a need to create space saving, multipurpose furniture, which could be used across all 7 different learning areas.
The design consisted of a single shape, which could be interchanged to different pieces of furniture, which would be used in a classroom for 3 to 5 year old's. These being, a table, a storage unit and 2 different shaped chairs for the lower (3 year olds) and higher (5 year olds) end of the target market's age group.
The design is manufactured out of polypropylene and is double skin rotationally moulded to enable the product to be as lightweight as possible for the teacher to use in the classroom space.

I am an enthusiastic individual who strives on user focused design, specifically designing products to enable the educational market. I have an ambition to become a Secondary Product Design teacher, specialising in Graphic Design & Resistant Materials once I have graduated. My interests include Underwater Hockey, Graphic Design and Computer Aided Design.
