ABILITY - the sustainable and collapsible wheelchair.

The discovered problem of current wheelchairs on the market being bulky and unattractive, taking up lots of space when folded has led to designing and developing the ‘ABILITY’™ wheelchair. The wheelchairs features allow it to stand out from the competitors, like the designed folding and locking mechanism developed in the frame. Leather covered seat that includes a simple fold and unfold system inspired by origami structures. Front Omni wheel with disks around the circumference which are perpendicular to the rolling direction, effecting in rolling in full forward force and sliding left to right with a great ease and the developed deep dish sustainable wheel rims with bamboo ply inserts allowing the folded frame to fit inside it. The short fold width of the wheelchair means that it is the most collapsible one currently available on the market, measuring just 160 mm. Therefore the design stands out form the competitors as it is developed using researched technologies for improvement and the use of sustainable material makes it more eco-friendly. It fulfils the need for the new design by providing disabled people with a wheelchair that looks and performs as it should.

EXER - Unique dumbbell product with build in resistance bands designed for truck driversin in mind

The EXER dumbbell was developed by finding a problem of the increasing number of people being overweight in the UK. The target market of long distance truck drivers was chosen due to their job being away from home with a environment disallowing them form performing exercises and keeping a healthy diet. This led to the design and development of the EXER dumbbell. It combines existing exercise products on the market, creating it specifically for long distance lorry drivers. The gap on the market is due to existing products not being suitable because of the strict regulations. The system uses two resistant bands attached to a coil spring located in the dumbbells body, making it retractable. To operate it the user simply takes out the bands and attaches them together using clips to any appropriate surfaces. Then when not in use, the product can simply be disassembled into 3 smaller parts ideal for truck cab storage. Therefore the product fulfils the found problem with truck drivers in mind. Through this unique combination the user experiences a workout which is similar to the standard dumbbell only without the added weight and expense.
