ADO
Equestrian Manure Management Project
The objective of this project was to design a rake and scoop product aimed at the equestrian market to effectively manage the removal of horse manure whilst minimising the physical impact to the user.
The need for a new design was brought to my attention after an avid horse rider and her husband suffered substantial repetitive strain injuries using tools to clear horse manure from the stables and fields. There is currently no product specifically designed to eliminate the injuries sustained through mucking out. This presents a viable opportunity and lucrative gap in the market.
MAJOR PROJECT
Recoil Shock Absorption Device Designed for Shotguns used within Trap Shooting Sports.
This project investigated shotgun recoil in terms of what causes it, what makes it worse and what reduces it. According to Sir Isaac Newton’s 'Third Law of Motion' for every action taken there is an equal and opposite reaction given. Here, the force required to fire a bullet (or shot) out of a gun is equal to the force that is exerted back through it. Ultimately, a large proportion of a gun's force is taken by the shooter who is often left injured after long periods of use. In fact, 43% of firearm injuries are self-inflicted and occur as a result of the guns recoil.

My Grandfather was a huge inspiration to me during my childhood and provided the foundation for my passion for design.
He was a great Engineer/Designer himself and I spent a lot of my early years learning from him and discussing his many ‘projects.’
It was through his encouragement and influence that I find myself pursuing a career in Product Design.
We shared many common interests including vehicle restoration, RC models, gadgetry / technology , fishing and shooting.
I hope that I have made him proud.
